03.02.23 - But are you happy?
The most important metric in your business
The most important metric in your business isn’t your revenue 🎯
I’ll keep this short because the most impactful stuff is often the easiest to distill.
Here it is:
Are you having fun?
Take two equal players.
In skill - they are the same.
In experience - they are the same.
One is having fun, so 10 hours feels like 5.
One is doing it for the money.
And 5 hrs feels like 10.
Here’s the kicker…
I was speaking with a client earlier this week. The “plan,” is to do X & Y for a time to fund doing Z.
Z is where the heart is.
X & Y is where the “easy money” is.
Here’s the problem: he doesn’t like X & Y.
And will be competing with people who LIVE EAT SLEEP & BREATH X & Y.
There’s no chance you can outrun someone who loves to f*cking run. It isn’t happening.
Everything you do from a place of “transaction” (give to get) will lose IF competing against someone operating from a place of “mission” (I live to give).
I said, “Let’s just skip to Z.”
The problem is we get stuck in narratives.
You think you “must” do X & Y first cause that’s how person “over there” did it. And person “over here” says on their YouTube channel that you must because it’s how they did it.
My friend, here are the real rules of the universe: there are none.
Your life and business should be (and can be) integrated. As in, working in harmony… for the benefit of other people and the people they’re connected to. You can’t possibly make your mark on history if you’re transactionalizing the process.
What are you called to?
What do you love?
What are you great at?
Line these up and you’ll achieve victory against anyone you are competing against.
No one can withstand the onslaught of that kind of alignment.
Here is the homework:
What am I current doing / spending time on because I perceive it will get me closer to “Z” — desired destination?
How can I skip directly to “Z” right now?
Happy Thursday.
Enjoy it 💪
