05.03.22 - How to manipulate time
Hi Friends -
I hope you’re truly fantastic.
It’s a Saturday morning at the time of this writing (but it’s likely you’re getting it at a later date).
My favorite time to slow time down & work proactively to create results in advance for my life and my companies is late Friday afternoons and early Saturday mornings. There are no calls, no fires (usually), just blank space to create.
One of the ideas I’ve been working through in my head is the difference between “design” and “discipline.” I have a lot of clients… a lot of them, upon entry into my world, are surprised that I don’t necessarily “work” all that much.
Everything must be designed first before it can be constructed in the real world.
I find people are far too busy “doing” and not intentional enough about “designing.”
If you’re working working working working — but you don’t know what you’re working towards, are you really working or are you just wasting your time, hmm?
Here’s a brilliant post by yours truly here if you’d like more on this topic (you must be a member of the group… as email subscribers it’s free so just click request to join and my team will add you quickly).
One of my favorite people to listen to is a man named Richard Koch. He wrote “The 80/20 Principle,” based on the work of Pareto and the “Pareto principle.”
Here’s a quote from him that demonstrates the spirit behind what I am trying to say:
"Hold on, relax, and think for a moment. If only 10 percent of our time is really used to great effect, it follows that 90 percent isn’t, and that this time is available for high-value activity. If we take the numbers literally, we could double our high-value activity and still have 70 percent of our time left to waste. This goes both for individuals and for the corporations in which we work. So we shouldn’t be worried about shortage of time; this is an illusion. We don’t need to speed up. What we need to do is stop spending our time in low-quality/low-output ways." - Richard Koch
This is fantastic news.
It means that if you are to be effective, all you really need to do is slow down for just a moment, get your bearings, DESIGN the outcome you want and then (and only then) reverse engineer it. Once reverse-engineered you can go about “working” to create the mental design in the real world.
Speaking of reverse-engineering, I wanted to let you know.
In May, I’ll be traveling to Orlando to co-host an event that I’ve been watching for several years. It’s late notice, but if you’re around May 20-22 and can make it out to Orlando, I’ve purchased 10 tickets for you to attend.
It’s a mental performance & altogether life-transformation event that could raise the dead. It’s quite extraordinary to watch. If you’re wanting change or expansion, you should email me back for details. Like I said, I believe in the event enough that I already bought 10 tickets for people in my network.
If the dates work for you - hit reply and I’ll send you a ticket, you’ll just need to fly out to Orlando. We can have some dinner and connect while there.
Talk soon,
Taylor
P.S. Are you a consultant? Apologies for the deluge of information, but if you’re a consultant or would like to begin offering consulting to your existing business model, please let me know. Another no-risk offer is brewing in my head, and I’ve begun to put the pieces together to make you and the ppl in your world more money.
It’s my favorite thing to do. Make sure you’re in this group and start consuming the content that’s rolling out - very good and very worth it.
Bye for now, talk soon!
