06.04.22 - Do the inefficient things
Sometimes you need to do things that are *inefficient* so that YOU can be *effective*
Great leaders, if you study them, are perfectly willing to do things that aren’t efficient (AT ALL) either because of how it makes them FEEL or how it connects the dots in their heads…
People think I’m crazy for using a physical notebook for my production list.
Effective > efficient.
People have wondered why I take so long developing ideals, tenets, and identity (Morning Formula) every morning.
Effective > efficient.
Yesterday I saw a friend of mine who’s quite prolific, sitting at a hotel reviewing notes (he takes detailed notes each week of whatever hits his mind to think about — then sits ad physically goes through them before the weekend).
Earlier last week I talked with a good friend who’s unbelievably effective — he sits for hours a day and draws concepts & doodles to process his thinking and create IP.
Effective > efficient.
Here’s what I am NOT saying:
🛑 I’m not saying you should doodle all day cause someone else does it
🛑 I’m not saying you should take notes and ponder them each Friday
🛑 I’m not telling you to do any ONE thing in particular
✅ I’m showing you that if you find the things / behaviors that work for YOU — you can become unstoppable
But likely, these things won’t be efficient. They will be important but you will have to make TIME for them.
People miss out on a lot of creative firepower, a lot of growth, a lot of HAPPINESS, because they’re trying to fit a bunch of things in that they saw someone else do — but don’t quite fit for THEM.
I promise you this:
You are only 2 to 3 activities TOPS away from whatever life or outcome you want. It isn’t complicated…
The hardest part is NOT complicating it 🙂
Good things to think about this weekend, hope your Saturday has been amazing!
