07.26.22 - Making money is good
Interesting contrarian take from Dan Kennedy popped up in my notes review this morning.
Oftentimes the question regarding your “mission” has been something along the lines of:
What would you do if you could only do it for free?
Kennedy’s like “yea f*ck that” lol.
Money is interwoven into how humans make decisions, and it always will be.
But it cannot be king.
People go wrong when they live in the extremes. The question, “what would you do if money was not the ONLY decision maker” is harder to answer, because it is nuanced.
So humans simplify the decision by making it black or white: “if you could make NO money what would you do?”
The question loses it’s difficulty then but also it’s utility.
-What would you do if you weren’t allowed to eat?
-What would you do if you couldn’t ever move again?
-What would you do if you had to live without the sun or any light and sit in the dark?
See how silly these questions are??
They’re they same type of question but they do not help you… they operate inside a nonexistent made up fairytale scenario designed to remove nuance from a question that requires nuance.
It is okay to enjoy surplus.
It is GOOD to have MORE than enough (otherwise known as abundance).
You should not be poor.
It’s better to be rich.
AND (not but) there are other assets that are ALSO important.
Wealthy people focus on both/and.
