Yo, what's up everybody? Hope you're doing amazing and fantastic, and all of the above. And hey, I wanna talk to you about expectations.
I started a new book over the weekends called The Expectation Effect, and I'm hooked a couple pages in Wait, go.
This is exactly the philosophy that I've always had, but I've never known exactly how to describe it. And I wanna share a, a bit of it with you, or actually not even anything particular, but just an overview of this principle and how it impacts our lives in every area.
You know that the expectation you have from a situation determines in many cases the outcome you're gonna have from the situation.
You know, it's possible for two people to go through the exact same thing. One has an expectation that it is going to hurt them, and it does.
The other has the expectation that it's going to strengthen them, and it does take a third go through the same thing.
They have an expectation that it's going to be easy, and it is a fourth has the expectation that it's gonna be hard.
And it is, it's fascinating how we end up getting exactly what we expect to find from the situation, circumstances, and scenarios that we roll through in life.
I have I have been reminded of this time and time again. You know, when you're reminded of this, the most is typically in stressful or challenging situations.
Have you ever noticed how when it rains it pours <laugh>? It's like, it's a saying for a reason. When it rains, it doesn't just rain a little bit, it pours, it's when it rains, it's freaking flooding Armageddon.
You know, the reason that this is true and that things like this are true is because all it takes for you to start looking for rain is a little bit of rain.
All it takes for you to start looking for catastrophic setbacks is just a little setback. Most of us. All it takes for us to start finding betrayal in our lives.
It's just one person doesn't do what they say they're gonna do when it rains up, pours, not necessarily because that's the way that science works or seasons work, but because we have a part to play in this little bit of sprinkles, and you start looking for the rain, life has a way of showing up the way we expect it to show up.
So here's my challenge for you, and this is a challenge for myself, is, you know, I am it's, it's the constant temptation for me to go through and look at worst case scenario.
Like, I'm constantly looking at how can I get hurt here? What's the worst case scenario? And I've had to acknowledge that's a part of my personality.
But what, what my challenge for, at least for me in this season right now, is what is the best case scenario?
What's the best possible outcome in this scenario? And as I rehearse that and I look at it, I begin to expect it.
And as I expect it, I begin to experience it. And as I experience it, I begin to multiply And, and compound it.
And it starts with the expectation. The expectation, the expectation effect. Great book. If you wanna listen to it on Audible, if you wanna download it, it's really, really good.
But the key is to make sure you are expecting the things that you want to see, and you can get your expectations to line up with the things you want to experience.
Adios.
